FOOD LOVER
Tim Kaeding, taco connoisseur and el jefe at MOTHER, shares his favorite L.A. taco spots for takeout.
 
LOQUI serves “honest Mexican eats” in Culver City and DTLA, from pork tacos with onion, cilantro and pineapple to mushroom tacos with cheese and guacamole.
 
Guerilla Tacos is for street food aficionados. Get the roasted chicken taco with avocado salsa or the sweet potato taco with almond chile, feta cheese and fried corn.
 
No list is complete without Guisados. Traditional homestyle braises (such as shredded chicken in a rich Poblano-style mole) are served atop fresh handmade tortillas.

Love Letters to Black Folks was started by Black Feast, a culinary event celebrating Black artists and writers through food. The concept is to provide Black people with free vegan, gluten-free desserts, love letters and care packages that inspire joy. All donations to Love Letters to Black Folks goes toward covering the cost of the food to keep the initiative completely free to recipients.

 
A Safe Space Inside Your Head was started in 2018 by a mother and son hoping to end the stigma surrounding mental health by building a community. Founded after losing a loved one to suicide their mission is “Meeting People Where They Are At in Their Mental Health Journey” and to remind people it is ok to not be ok and that finding people to support and understand is the best thing you could do when you are struggling.
