This month, MOTHER, the CFDA and I am a voter. came together to close out NYFW and unite the industry in their mission to increase voter turnout in the upcoming mid-term elections. MOTHER Co-Founders Lela Becker and Tim Kaeding, along with the CFDA’s Steven Kolb and founding member of I am a voter. Debra Messing invited designers, models, influencers, New York’s emerging creatives and notable faces from the world of fashion and entertainment to the newly opened Hotel Chelsea for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Guests dressed in MOTHER, caught up on the week’s shows and events, posed for photos and spoke collectively of the cause over a soundtrack by DJ Mei Kwok. Later in the evening, the hosts took the microphone to discuss the importance of exercising our right to vote and encouraging others to do so in the upcoming mid-term elections.
In a special moment, Debra Messing asked all guests to take out their phones, waited till they actually did, and then had everyone text VOTER to 26797. Everyone was able to check their registration status in real time. All guests also left with the MOTHER X I am a voter. socks and a “My Vote, My Choice” Tote Duo.
